We
are located at the foot of the Monti Sibillini, in the ancient
Pie' di Ripa hamlet (750m-2460ft elevation) in the Santa
Scolastica plain, 5 minutes from the town of Norcia in the
region of Umbria. |
| |
| The
town of Norcia is of very remote origin, in Roman times
the town played a strategically important role during the
Punic Wars. In the 1500s Saint Benedict founded the first
religious order and is now the patron saint of Europe. Inside
the city walls, many precious architectural treasures are
safely preserved for both visitors and locals to enjoy.
Some of these treasures include the gothic church of San
Benedetto, the Renaissance period Cathedral, and the Castellina
- a four-sided stone sculpture carved by Vignola. |
